It was all worth it: waiting for people at Euston Square Station, the journey to North Greenwich, enduring the briefing regarding safety measures and rules while on the track. The go karting is about to begin. I can sense excitement building up in the air around me. I get ready and jump into the car. The engine turns on…LET THE RACE BEGIN!
I can hear the roar of the engines at full power. My adrenaline kicks in. People start overtaking each other. At first I have no idea what I am doing but I quickly get the hang of it. I start to press the gas. The car accelerates and as I turn I can feel the inertia driving me off my seat! Another curve, one drift accelerate again and set off. The car ahead of me looms into view. I diminish the distance between us and the next thing he knows, I am next to him! SURPRISE!
I am far ahead now. The next car I try to overtake manages to block me multiple times. I do not give up though. In the curve he goes out and I go in, we are side to side drifting and I press the gas! I'm on top of the game. Sadly, the race has to end. Well, it was sad for those losers I just beat.
Afterwards, we went to see the leaderboard and shared some drinks.
At the end of the day I was so mad at myself, why have I never tried this before?
